This is one of the lamps inside the Fox Theatre. I think it's beautiful! It's very art deco to me and I love the colors and delicate swirls.

A Pair Of . . . (27 of 365)

How crazy is this? This pair of shoes was one of several pairs hanging from a large tree just outside of Corner Tavern in Little Five Points. I've never seen so many abandoned pair of shoes in my life!

Colored Glass (25 of 365)

This is the Grand Salon inside the Fox Theatre. It's used for special events. The glass ceiling in the Salon is gorgeous, especially on sunny days. Too bad it was cloudy outside!

What am I? (24 of 365)

This is a Nepenthes. These plants are pretty neat. The cups are filled with an acidic substance which is used to digest its prey. The outside is covered with nectar that attracts insects, and actually makes them a bit dizzy. Losing their balance, they fall into the cup. The slippery sides of the cup prevent them from being able to escape.

This is not my occupation, although it is closely related. Doesn't every judge need to have a gavel?

Sunday Six: Week 5

This week is a "New Six" all taken this afternoon at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. It was a beautiful day today and the garden is getting ready for the Annual Orchid Exhibition which begins February 7th. Today was a good day to walk around and take photos because it was significantly less crowded than it will be over the next few weeks.


First up is a prickly pear cactus.


I have no clue what type of flower this is. It was actually in a multi-flower container with pansies and a few other hearty flowers.


The garden has frogs like this one hidden all around. Some are sitting on benches or rocks, or inside ponds. They're all really cute.

This statue is located in the shade garden in what's called the "Frog Baby Pool." No baby frogs in there today!


Rounding things up today is another orchid. There were so many orchids on display, all bright, delicate, and beautiful. I think the two orchids in this post are one of the numerous Phalaenopsis (moth orchids), but I'm not positive.

This is the original ticket booth at the Fox. I happened to be standing in just the right spot to catch a great reflection of one of the surrounding buildings. I love this picture because of the detail in the reflection. It turned out better than I expected.
